I mentioned the financial difficulty Scott Pilgrim vs. The World had in an earlier podcast, and, having finally seen it a week or so ago and given time to let it sink in, would like to offer a bit of a follow up.
Scott Pilgrim is definitely not a movie for everybody, and its awareness of comic book and video game tropes and conceits makes it something inaccessible for a percentage of filmgoers of certain older age groups. And, if you can’t accept those mostly ridiculous conceits the film might be understandably hard to get into.
That being said, this movie was intensely and extremely entertaining and well made, full of a lot of silly fun, and will likely be embraced as a cult classic in years to come. If you haven’t seen it, now that it’s on DVD, do yourself a favor and rent it.
